Description: This dataset represents the locations and attributes of Department of Public Works (DPW) pavement striping assets maintained by the Operational Services Division (OSD) within Los Angeles County jurisdiction. Pavement striping assets include roadway centerlines, lane lines, edge lines, bike lanes, and associated striping configurations used to regulate traffic flow, delineate lanes, and enhance roadway safety.Striping assets in this dataset represent the complete set of roadway striping elements for a given segment of roadway, rather than individual lines. Each asset captures the full striping configuration across the roadway cross-section, including centerlines, lane lines, edge lines, bike lanes, and associated features, as defined by the STRIPECODE.Striping assets are spatially segmented based on changes in roadway geometry and striping configuration. In particular, assets are split at locations where there is a change in the direction of the roadway centerline, such as curves, intersections, or transitions between roadway segments. This ensures that each striping asset represents a consistent and uniform configuration along its length.Within each segment, all striping elements are grouped together into a single asset record, allowing the STRIPECODE and its associated component fields to fully describe the roadway striping layout for that section.This segmentation approach aligns with DPW striping standards, where roadway striping is managed and maintained as a system of coordinated elements rather than as individual independent featuresThis layer was developed to support asset management, field maintenance operations, striping inventory tracking, and integration with the County’s Asset Management System (Trimble Unity Maintain / Cityworks).Field Definitions / Attribute Overview:This dataset contains key attribute fields describing each Pavement Striping Asset. Note that values may be missing as this is an ongoing effort to reconcile and input our asset data. Notable/unique fields for Pavement Striping include:CW_ASSETID – Unique asset identifier assigned within the Cityworks / Trimble Unity Maintain system.STATUS – Operational status of the striping asset (e.g., Active, Inactive, Proposed).STRIPECODE – Standardized DPW striping configuration code representing the combination and arrangement of roadway striping elements along the segment.S_TYPE – Primary striping category indicating the general configuration type (e.g., Centerline, Edge Line, Bike Lane, Raised Pavement Marker). CL_1, EL_L_2, EL_R_3, BL_L_4, BL_R_5 – Individual striping component codes derived from the STRIPECODE, representing specific striping elements (e.g., centerline, left/right edge lines, bike lane lines) in their respective positions along the roadway cross-section.STREET – Name of the roadway where the striping asset is located. DIST_FROM – Distance measurement from the reference “From” location in miles. DIST_FROM_DIR – Direction of measurement from the “From” reference point. FROM_X_STREET – Cross street used as the starting reference point. DIST_TO – Distance measurement to the reference “To” location in miles. DIST_TO_DIR – Direction of measurement toward the “To” reference point. TO_X_STREET – Cross street used as the ending reference point. LENGTH – Total length of the striping segment in miles.RRFLTY – Numeric retroreflectivity score representing the amount of light reflected from the marking or striping, used to assess its nighttime visibility and overall condition.RPM_TYPE – Type of raised pavement markers associated with the striping configuration.S_MATERIAL – Material used for the striping (e.g., paint, thermoplastic).*_CTDETAIL – Reference to the applicable Caltrans or DPW standard detail associated with the striping component.*_DESC – Description/Name of the striping component.*_COLOR – Color designation of the striping (e.g., white, yellow).*_TYPE – Line type designation describing the pattern or style of the striping (e.g., solid, dashed, double).*_LTYPE – Lane type such as Thru Lane, or Centerline, etc.ORIG_INST_DATE – Original installation date of the pavement striping asset, when available.
